What Is PSSR?
The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR) apply to systems containing a gas or liquid under pressure that could be dangerous if released.
The regulations state that pressure systems must be:
- Properly designed, operated, and maintained
- Examined at appropriate intervals
- Covered by a Written Scheme of Examination before being used
Businesses who don’t comply with PSSR can potentially face prosecution, insurance validation issues, and increased risk of employee injury or property damage.

Our Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) service
A Written Scheme of Examination is compulsory under PSSR. It states which parts of the pressure system need to be examined, the required frequency of inspections, and safe operating limits. The WSE must be certified by a Competent Person before the system is used and kept up to date through regular inspections.
